Garland - Jičín

Garland is one of the largest distributors of garden equipment, power tools and other home and garden supplies. This purely Czech company, which has been in business since 1993, decided to build a new modern center that will enable it to provide above-standard services to its customers in the years to come.

The company ENIKA.CZ completely provided the lighting for these spaces - from the selection of suitable elements, through the calculation of the lighting, the design of the control system, to the supervision of a correctly executed installation.

In the first stage, the lighting of the spaces was solved, in which 3 floors of low warehouses with racks and pallet areas are combined with the main high warehouse. From the main warehouse there is access to the individual floors, which creates the impression of a maisonette. The goal was to find universal lighting fixtures for these spaces and to combine as few of their types as possible to ensure ease of maintenance for further operation. The lights from the German company Regiolux were chosen – the SDT bar system and PIROLA dustproof lamps.

The use of modern LED technology ensures an economical solution compared to other light sources. However, GARLAND's wish was to optimize the lighting even further and thereby achieve maximum energy savings. For this supplier of hobby and professional tools, a gentle approach to nature is a priority. The LED lights were therefore supplemented with the POSEIDON ® intelligent lighting control system, which allows artificial lighting to be controlled depending on the presence of people and the proportion of daylight. At the same time, it is possible to clearly define normative lighting requirements for certain sections, which are then automatically monitored by the system, thus ensuring safety for all employees.

The most significant saving comes from the lighting control of high-rise warehouses in the aisles between the racks. The system here automatically provides sufficient light only when it detects the movement of people or loading equipment. If no movement is detected in this space for a certain period of time, the system dims the lighting to a minimum value . In order not to create too large a transition between light and dark, the light is dimmed in two steps, which ensures greater safety and comfort for the staff. In the same way, energy wastage is prevented when lighting fixtures in maisonette warehouses are omitted. Therefore, the obligation to "extinguish behind" disappears.

All information about the status of the luminaires is transmitted to the MaR (measurement and regulation) system, where it is visualized and can be controlled centrally from one place. The entire warehouse is set to automatic mode in GARLAND, without the need for intervention in individual parts. At the same time, a connection to the building's security system is ensured, when all lighting is turned off when the building is coded.

Thanks to the use of an intelligent lighting control system , the GARLAND company reduced the time of unnecessary lighting to a minimum , which ensured a maximum reduction in electricity consumption. However, this is not the only advantage that smart driving presents. Thanks to automatic regulation, POSEIDON® ensures safe lighting according to prescribed hygiene standards and improves comfort for employees. Last but not least, it contributes to the longer life of LED lights, because it lights up only when it is necessary, and not always at maximum output.
